happy halloween!
  • Happy Halloween!

  • Jane, you weren’t planning on dressing up this year because your first few ideas didn’t pan out, but you suddenly felt inspired around 7:30 this morning, so we scrambled around and managed to find something in the baby’s dress up basket. Luckily you had the perfect boots to go with the dress.

  • Katie, you crack me up. When we were at grandma and grandpa’s in the summer you found one of my old dresses from the late 80’s/early 90’s. You guys thought it was so hilarious. You brought it home so you could dress up as me. I managed to find my glasses from the same era, so we popped the lenses out. I did your bangs, and you thought they were over the top, but no…trust me…the hair was HUGE back then. You’re lucky I didn’t do a home perm to up the authenticity factor.

  • Katie, you were freaking daddy out, because every time he saw you out of the corner of his eye, he thought you were some kind of weird mash up of me and auntie Jenny. That was her go-to hair style for quite a while. Lol.

  • George and Lila, you don’t dress up until lunch time at your school, so I went down there at 12:30 to deliver your costumes and help you get dressed. George, when I arrived, you were sitting quietly with Aldona coloring. You had completed at least 10 pages of Halloween coloring sheets.

  • The halloween costume parade started at 1:00. I have to admit, there aren’t many things cuter than little kids dressed up in costumes. I loved watching you and your friends showing off your costumes.

  • George, after school we went to Katie’s school to pick her up. We were sitting in the van in the parking lot when you spied the most magical thing. The Demon (from KISS) was directing traffic. You couldn’t believe your little eyes. You asked to go see him, then shyly and excitedly approached him to ask for a photo. You were in awe. You couldn’t wait to tell daddy you actually got to see the real KISS and even had a photo.

  • Jane, there’s a puddle beside the theatre that never ever goes away. I’ve always wanted to take a photo there, and decided today was the day because it kinda matched the mood of your costume. You gave me about 10 shots before you’d had enough.

  • Katie, we went to an old church in Maillardville for your pictures. You gave me two shots before my time was up.

  • Jane, we took you over to Tia’s. It’s her birthday, so you went over there to celebrate. She wanted photos of her costume, so I did a few for her. Finally…a willing subject!

  • Katie, you went to Amy’s house to go trick or treating with your friends.

  • George and Lila, we went over to Kim and Ross’s to hang out with them and trick or treat in their neighborhood. They had a warming station for the parents which included a fire pit and hot chocolate. They left for a bit to take their kids trick or treating, so I stayed at the house and handed out candy for the first time in my entire life! I’ve never handed out candy to kids before because we’ve always lived in a condo. So crazy. It was really fun and I enjoyed seeing all the kids in their costumes.

  • There’s a haunted house a block over from their house, so we hit that up for a while. Your favorite thing by far were the bubbles. They blow a fog machine into a bubble machine, which makes bubbles with fog inside. It’s the coolest thing! George, of course, you were eating the bubbles. Some things never change.

  • George, you fell asleep on the way home. Little Ironman asleep in the back seat of the van. The cutest.
