summer feet
  • We went to Williams Lake today to visit grandpa's side of the family.  Grandpa's oldest sister Sanae passed away a week ago, so we wanted to see Kelli (Sanae's daughter) and grandpa's sister Emy, along with Emy's daughter Karen.
  • The entire area around 150 Mile House was badly burned by the forest fires.  It was terrible.
  • Before we got to my aunt's house, we stopped at the Best Western to visit daddy's aunt Annie.  We managed to surprise her, which was really fun.  The hotel is really beautiful, and Annie, of course, is as beautiful as ever.  Such a nice woman.
  • When we entered my auntie Emy's house, I looked at her, and had a sudden flash back to my grandma.  I was only six when she died, and I didn't think that I remembered her, but when I saw Auntie Emy, it all came back to me.  She looks so much like her, especially because she had her long grey hair back in a bun just like my grandma used to.  That's exactly what I want to do with my hair when I get older.  I remember thinking that my grandma's hair was so pretty.
  • My cousin Karen brought her ukulele, so she and daddy did some jamming.  It was pretty great.
  • George and Lila, you were running around barefoot on the deck, but because of the fires, there's so much ash and soot around, your feet were completely black.
  • We had a great visit.  It was fun to hear grandpa and auntie Emy tell a story of digging the well at their family's place in Lone Butte.  Apparently, they dug and dug and dug, but it was pure rock and they were making very little progress.  Finally their dad got fed up, and blasted it with dynamite.  They were laughing as they remembered.
  • The Matsuda's are allergic to photos.  But I was sneaky and persistent.  Lol.  You can't escape me!
  • When we arrived back in 100 Mile, we decided to do our traditional Smitty's stop.  I don't know why our family enjoys Smitty's so much, but we all just love it.
  • Daddy found his headstone for his grave.  I'm posting the picture so we'll remember his wish for his final resting place.
