happy birthday ian!

happy birthday ian!
  • Today was daddy's 42nd birthday.  You guys constantly delight me with how excited you are about birthdays and the special things you love to do to celebrate.
  • Lila, you worked so hard on daddy's birthday card.  You colored every square inch of that card and wrote a special message to daddy that you painstakingly copied.
  • Ian, your birthday wish was to relax.  You laid out on the deck and listened to music.  I could tell you were in your glory.
  • I made lasagna, garlic toast and caesar salad for daddy.  Lila, you helped me with dinner by buttering the garlic bread.  You were incredibly proud of your work.
  • George and Lila, I took you to Katie's soccer practice so daddy could have a little more time to himself.  We played at the community gardens at Scott Creek.  I always feel amazed by your ability to play so long with nothing more than dirt and water.
  • The soccer practice ran much longer than I thought it would, and you guys were getting restless, so we ran across the street to say hello to auntie Georgia.  You guys love the wind chime that hangs at the end of her garage.  You always ask to ring it whenever we arrive.
  • I loved watching you guys give your home made cards and gifts to daddy.  Each one of you was excited to sit beside him and present him with your treasures.
  • Lila, you have your first loose tooth and you were hoping it would be ready to be pulled.  Jane checked it out, and to your great disappointment, it wasn't quite loose enough.  Jane is our professional tooth puller here.  I actually haven't ever pulled a tooth.  Either grandma Laura, or Jane pulled them, or they fell out on their own.
