gooooooooooooal!!

Katie!!!! You scored your first goal with your new team. So exciting. To motivate you at the beginning of the season, I told you I’d give you $100 for your first goal. You tried so hard, and your team was trying their best to get you your cash. It was so funny. Your coach told you right before the game that he knew today was the day. Everyone was so happy for you! It was pretty great. And of course, this was the one game I didn’t bring my zoom lens to. Geez. Oh well…I was glad I got to fully witness it instead of snapping photos.
It was so cold tonight. I was even wearing socks and shoes and a winter coat, and I was still cold. Lila and I sat on the bleachers with a blanket under us and another blanket wrapped around us.
Katie, you’ve been writing so much poetry lately. I finally convinced you to let me share one here. Thank you! You have so much talent. I like to think this one is about me and daddy. I asked and you if it was, and you just gave me a sideways glance, which I took as a yes.
I hope someone loves me like that
Like the way he stares at you while you're not watching
The way he listens to you
The way you know exactly what the other is thinking
The way you can fight
But you always know you'll be alright in the end
The way you can sit and talk for hours and never get bored
The way you can look in each others eyes
And just for that moment
Everything is still
And okay
And you fall deeper
And deeper in love
