school drop-off

school drop-off
  • Today was the beginning of our first rain storm.  It's supposed to be raining and cool for the rest of the week.
  • Lila, you wore pajamas to school again.  I thought we were over this, but apparently we're not.
  • George, you never wear pajamas, but since Lila wore them, you decided to as well.  You looked deliciously snuggly in them.
  • George, you played with your hockey guys for such a long time today.  I love listening to your imaginative play.
  • George, you really really really want Lego mini figures for your birthday.  You're working hard to convince me that you need them.  You even offered to go through your toys and get rid of a whole bunch in order to make room for them.  Hey, I'm always up for cleaning out the toys.  You let go of a whole bunch of stuff, and your room feels a lot better now.
  • The view out of our kitchen window is so pretty in the fall.  The Virginia Creeper is a radiant red and the contrast against the grey brick and grey skies is incredible.
  • I picked everyone up from school today because it was raining very hard.  I haven't missed the school parking lots.  They drive me crazy.  So many people driving badly with little regard for others.
  • From the time we arrived home until dinner was ready, it was completely silent in our house.  It was a strange phenomenon.  I kept waiting for it to end, but it didn't.  Katie, you were reading in front of the fire, George, you were playing with your hockey guys, Jane, you were researching something on my phone in the kitchen, and Lila, you were drawing.
  • I did so many little things that have been in the back of my mind.  It felt good to get them done and clear out some space in there.
