  • George, you love to stand at the calendar and count the days until your birthday.  Lila has decorated the date with cupcakes and birthday cake stickers. You'll be four in just six more days.  I've asked you what you want for your birthday party.  You want to invite Keegan and Jack and Auntie Georgia.  That's quite a guest list!  For food you want wraps with cream cheese and ham, and then a batman cake.  Seems doable :)
  • There was a huge rain storm this morning.  Jane, I can't believe you walked to school in it.  The rain was falling in sheets, and the trees looked like they might snap in the wind. It was so dark that our patio lights came on because they thought it was night.  But by 10:00 it had all blown away and the sun was shining.  Such a quick change!
  • I can feel a change in myself.  I think i'm starting to let go.  Let go of the busyness that has consumed me for the last five years.  I'm letting go of the constant vigil that I kept.  I was always alert and listening and ready to leap up at a moments notice.  I don't think I've allowed myself to truly relax in almost five years.  From the time school started until now, I was feeling guilty because everyone is off doing their thing, and I'm at home chillaxin' with my baby boy.  It's because I've been so keyed up over this last little while, that I haven't been able to unwind and take time out for myself.  In daddy's words, I'm finally able to CTFD (Calm the Eff Down).  I listened to podcasts all day today.  I listened to things nobody else is interested in except for me. Most of the time I was listening to Dear Sugars.  I love Cheryl Strayed so much.  I've read all her books, and I think she speaks such wisdom.
  • George, you said, "Mom, I'm going to miss you when you die in the fire.  But it'll be OK because then I can make the rules.  Don't worry...Jane can watch us."   Um....it was a little disturbing.  Are you a prophet, or just a weird little kid?  Am I going to die in a fire?  Why do you think that?  Why are you so casual about it?  Lol.
  • Lila and George, after school we played at the school playground for a long time.  Of course, you found the muddy puddles and got completely soaked, but you were so happy.  I love that you love to get dirty and wet and messy.
  • George, as we neared the van, you tripped and fell on the sidewalk.  Lila immediately ran over to you and offered you her bandaids that she keeps in her backpack.  She gently cared for you.  It was the sweetest thing to watch.  She doctored you up, then gave you a little squeeze and a kiss.  You guys are pretty sweet together.
  • We had a typing contest tonight.  Jane and Katie, I think we're going to have to get you some typing lessons.  You're so used to typing on a phone with autocorrect, it's tricky for you to use a keyboard.
  • I've been singing the song "Despacito" all day today.  I CANNOT get it out of my head.  It's driving me crazy.
