on the road again

on the road again
  • We decimated the continental breakfast at the hotel, daddy took the babies for a quick swim, then headed out of town
  • Lila, you've been having a really hard time being away from home.  You poor little thing.  You've also been very attached to me since your choking incident, but because I was busy with the wedding a family, I couldn't spend every moment with you.  You weren't pleased about that.  You told dad "Mutta is taking too many pictures, and going to too many stores, and talking to too many people."  When you did my have my full undivided attention in Calgary, you wanted to be as close to me as a little girl can get to their mom, and you talked and talked and asked me all kinds of interesting questions.  My favorite one was, "Why did God make Calgary?  It was a bad choice."  I sat in the back seat with you yesterday and today.  You held my hand the entire time.  If I left to go anywhere by myself, you burst into tears and cried for me.  This kind of clingy behavior is not normal for you, so I'm more than happy to give you as much of myself as I can until you're feeling better (and Jane is more than happy to sit in the front!)
  • It was so good to get home.  Really truly, there is no place like home.  The cat was overjoyed to see us again.  (Beth, our neighbor cat sits for us when we're away)
