  • Tonight I was saying goodnight to Dareian out on the sidewalk, and some planes flew overhead.  She said, "I've always wanted to take photos of planes taking off and landing.  Want to go?"  Well, yes indeed I do!!!!   We parked on McCall Way NE.  It was a perfect place to photograph planes
  • Unfortunately, it was already pretty late so the air traffic had slowed down, but we managed to get a few shots.  The timing was trickier than I had anticipated.  Also, I forgot my tripod, so I was resting my camera on the roof of the car...but that actually created some pretty cool reflections
  • We stayed until 1am when the air traffic stopped, then headed to McDonalds for Sausage McMuffins.  I was like an old asian lady.  I had coupons.  They weren't going to honor them so I made them ask their manager.  And then I held up the drive through line even longer as I counted out exact change.  Hahaha.  I crack myself up sometimes
  • We left Calgary this morning after a quick visit with Uncle Danny, and a really terrible lunch at Denny's.  It's the first time I've ever sent something back to the kitchen, but Jane and Katie, you ordered breakfast poutine, and it was pretty much inedible.  So salty it was hard to choke down.  They brought out a new dish, and it was so bland that it was also hard to choke down.  It's hard to imagine that someone could mess up hash browns and hollandaise sauce
  • The drive home was slow with stops for construction, but then somewhere between Revelstoke and Golden we were stopped due to a semi truck that had caught fire.  We sat on the hot road for 3 hours.  Everyone was cranky and sweaty and not in the mood to sit in the van.  We couldn't get out of the van because the other direction of traffic was still moving
  • Auntie Becca and Grandpa were also stuck in the same line up, so we got to have dinner with them in Golden.  It was fun to see them one more time
  • We had planned on going all the way home, but with the delay, we decided to spend the night in Salmon Arm.  It ended up being a good choice.  We stayed at the Travel Lodge.  It wasn't fancy, but it had a pool and beds...perfect!
  • I laughed at the six of us crammed into one hotel room.  George and I shared a single cot, Katie and dad slept on a bed and Lila and Jane shared a bed.  The funny thing was that no one was bothered by it.  We all happily settled in and went to sleep.  I think our condo living, and the musical bed game we play every night has prepared us for anything :)
