packed up & ready to go
  • We left to visit grandma and grandpa in 100 Mile.  The plan A was to leave in the late morning.  Ya...let's just say we moved on plan B.  One thing daddy does before we leave on a trip (that used to drive me crazy, but recently I've learned to embrace it) is clean our house frantically and thoroughly.  Things that didn't bother him in the last three weeks that we've been home are suddenly urgent.  He vacuumed, and washed the kitchen floors and cleaned off the counters, and organized his laundry.  It's slightly amusing to watch.  It's like he's possessed.
  • Lila, we were talking about grandma's nickname.  You think it's so hilarious that grandpa calls her Lolly.  You started giggling, then said you were going to call her Grandma Lollipop.  You're so delightful and have a cute little sense of humor.
  • George, you call daddy's ukulele his "Luke-a-lady"
  • We went to Costco to pick up some groceries to take to grandma and grandpa's.  Of course, it took a lot longer than we thought...and there were so many things to look at...and then everybody was hungry...and then we needed gas...and then everyone needed to go to the bathroom...and then grandma wanted us to get a Skipbo game for her.  By the time we left Coquitlam, it was after 3:00.  In the past, this would have driven me crazy.  I must be getting more relaxed in my old age.
  • We saw a really bad accident near Chilliwack.  It was unsettling.  It must have happened just seconds before we passed it, and there was someone administering CPR on someone, and there was an SUV on top of a smaller car.   We read later that someone had died.  It made me think about how fast life can change, and I felt very grateful for all the road trips we've been on without incident.
  • Highway 97 was closed near Clinton, so we had to go to Kamloops and then across through Little Fort.  I haven't been on that route for years and years.  I love the Lac des Roches area.  One of the prettiest lakes around.
  • The smoke around Kamloops was insane.  I can't imagine living in that for an extended period of time.
  • We arrived around 9:30.  Everyone was happy to get out of the van.  Grandma and Grandpa were happy to see us, but Belle was the most excited.  She's such a cute little doggy.
