happy 13th katie!

happy 13th katie!
  • Happy birthday Katie!
  • You wanted to open your presents first thing this morning.  Mommy and daddy got you the pillows you've been wanting for a while.  I got you a plaid jacket like grandpa Jimmy wears all the time.  George got you undies.  It was his idea, and he was super excited to give them to you.  Lila got you a silk flower.  She saw it at the store and was 100% sure it was the perfect present for you.  She even sprayed it with perfume so it would smell nice for you.  Tia got you cold hard cash...literally...cash wrapped in an ice pack.  Lol.  Jane also gave you cash.  She gave you $50 (of her own money), which was super generous.  She said she hadn't originally intended on giving you so much, but she was so proud of you for overcoming your fears at Playland the other day, she wanted to give you more.  Wow.  So sweet.
  • You and I went out for lunch to Red Robin.  You were excited to order a milk shake.  It's a big treat for our family to go out for dinner, and we can never order those extra things just because it would cost way too much with all of us.  I enjoyed letting you order whatever you wanted off the menu.
  • After lunch we went shopping for running shoes for back to school.  We didn't end up getting any because they didn't have your size in the color you wanted.  You did, however, get a watch with your birthday money.  Yours broke a few months ago and you've missed having one.
  • Annika came over in the afternoon for dinner, a swim and a sleep over.  She's a great kid and I enjoy having her around.
  • Katie, you asked for apple pie from Costco for your birthday cake.  Good choice!  It was delicious...and I didn't have to bake anything on this hot day :)
  • George, you got a ninja costume yesterday and you haven't taken it off since.  I don't know how you wore it today.  It was so hot and humid.  You asked if I would take some pictures of you.  I asked where we should go and you asked to go to the garage.  You're adorable.
  • Lila, you were somewhat jealous of the ninja costume, but got over it pretty quick when I showed you the Snow White costume that I made for Katie back when she was in kindergarten.
  • Jane, you're in the middle of your week-long sleepover with Tia.  You haven't seen each other at all this summer, and we're going to be busy starting next week until school starts.  This was the only week to see each other.  You're going to stay here for three nights, then move over to Tia's house for three nights.
