bedtime story

• We left for 100 Mile today.  We had intended on leaving yesterday but I just couldn't get my shit together to leave.  I had piles and piles of laundry to do, the house was a disaster and everyone was still recovering from the last busy week of June.
• Daddy has a really funny routine when we leave for a trip.  He is suddenly filled with the greatest desire to clean and organize every square inch of our house.  It cracks me up.  Oh my gosh.  I used to be bothered by it, but now we just let him do his thing and stay out of his way.  I do appreciate coming home to a nice clean house, and it's an added bonus that our neighbor who feeds our cat doesn't thing we're total slobs.  Gotta keep up those appearances.  Lol.
• We finally left just after noon.  We got as far as Chilliwack, then stopped for lunch.  We actually had a fun time at the restaurant.  We ate and chatted.  George, you kept us entertained.  Jane, you made us stay there until you had downloaded some episodes of Queer Eye to watch during the drive.
• Daddy usually drives, but I ended up driving this time because he was so tired that he felt like he was about to nod off.  I don't mind driving.  The trip goes by a lot faster, plus we were listening to our family playlist...it's an interesting mix.
• We arrived around 6:30.  They were waiting for us to have dinner.  Auntie Becca and Uncle Dan and the family came up yesterday.
• Jane and Katie, you disappeared pretty much right away into the downstairs room with Val and James. 
• George and Lila, you and David got busy playing within seconds.  You're so silly together.  Our two families get along really well.  It's really nice.
• Lila, you're so proud of your reading abilities.  You read George and David a bedtime story.  I actually didn't really know you could read, but I bought you a book at Costco yesterday, and you sat down and read it with ease, and with so much expression.  It was surprising and super adorable.
• I'm always so tired when I come up here.  I think the altitude has a lot to do with it.  And the fact that I don't have a ton of stuff to do, so can actually relax.  I'm hoping to rest and relax this week.
