happy 70th!

happy 70th!
  • Grandma and Grandpa normally go to church on Sundays, but Grandma wasn't feeling well, so we decided to stay home.  We had a slow morning.  I always order a Jimmy Special when I'm home.  For some reason, it always tastes 10 billion times better when Grandpa makes it for me.
  • George and Lila, you were so cute teasing grandpa while he sat in his chair.  You were trying to steal his slippers.
  • We went for a walk down to the end of the road.  George, you were eating the snow off the side of the road.  You're so weird.  Lila, you found a humming bird nest.  Auntie Becca got it down from the tree for you.  George, I was pleasantly surprised by how gentle and delicate you were when handling the nest.
  • Lila, George was getting cold and you offered to help him with his zipper and hood.  You were incredibly maternal and sweet with him.
  • The lake still isn't frozen.  It's very unusual for the beginning of December.  There was the tiniest bit of snow, but really nothing worth writing home about.
  • Pam and Christie came over in the afternoon for a visit.  Lila, Christie was arm knitting scarves.  You were fascinated.  She gave you some yarn to play with, then knitted you your very own scarf.
  • We made grandma's birthday cake this afternoon - a Kahlua cake, but without any Kahlua.  George and Lila, you decorated the cake with the sprinkles and candles you had picked out a few days ago.  It was perfect.
  • There was a super moon tonight.  It was so big and bright and beautiful.
  • Grandma wrote a book which is being published soon.  Her publishing company sent her a final draft, so she read it to you guys tonight from her laptop.  You loved the story.  As soon as she finished, George, you asked for it again.  It's about a couple little kittens who lose their mom and find a new home with a family.
