self portrait

At camera club last night, we talked about self-portraits, so I decided to practice what I preach. There was a pretty little spot by the parking lot at the library, so I pulled out my tripod and got to work. Self-portraits feel so awkward, but I know they’ll have infinite value in the future. I try to keep that in mind as I do them.
Lila, we had parent-teacher interviews today. Daddy and I went to meet with Mrs. Robb to get an update on your first month in grade 1. You’re doing so well! Or “really goodly" as you would say. You are kind, respectful and eager to learn. Her only wish for you was that you talk more. Ahahaha. I wonder how many times a teacher wishes a kid would talk more. As far as daddy and I are concerned, you’re doing amazingly well! You haven’t refused to go to school, you’re getting dressed every day, and come home happy. That’s more than I hoped for this fall.
My friend Sandra won a family pass to Glow in Langley and invited us to go with her and Gigi. We met them there just as the sun was setting and I can never resist a golden hour photo…even in a parking lot.
There was a lot of stuff going on at Glow. I think your favorite thing was the hopscotch room. There were round discs on the floor that changed colors when you jumped on them. It was pretty cool. You were also in love with the spooky stories told by three pumpkins.
George, I lost you while I was waiting in line for a pony ride. There was a play structure right beside the line up, so as I waited in the line, you and Lila were playing. Lila came back to me, but you didn’t. I asked Lila to go back and look for you, but she couldn’t find you. Then Lila stood in line for me while I took a look. You were nowhere to be found. I ran around like a crazy lady, then finally spotted you sitting with a worker crying your little eyes out. Poor little guy. Poor me. We had a nice long snuggle and recovered from our scare. You stuck pretty close to me after that.
