  • I had a master plan for today, but pretty much nothing turned out the way I thought it would. In the past this would have bothered me greatly, but I must be getting older and wiser and things just don’t rattle me like they used to. I was supposed to get some shit done this morning, then auntie Georgia was going to drop me off at the hotel nice and early so I could relax before dad joined me after school.

  • Lila, you put yourself to bed around 6:30 last night without eating. You said you were feeling too lazy to eat. I should have known you weren’t well. You woke up this morning with a stuffy nose and a fever. You looked pretty miserable.

  • George and Lila, today was the Santa breakfast at your school. We got there pretty early, but the line up was massive. It turned out they were having trouble with the grills. They decided not to make the sausages and concentrated on the pancakes, but could only make a few at a time. By the time we got our breaky, school had already started.

  • Jane, you ended up being quite late for your school because of the delay with the pancakes.

  • Lila, your class went on a field trip this morning, but you couldn’t go. You were super sad to miss out on the bowling.

  • Lila, I had some errands to run this morning, but decided to scrap them and only go to superstore. I made you a little bed in the cart and you almost fell asleep as we shopped.

  • Auntie Georgia came over just after noon to get last minute babysitting instructions. She was going to drive me to the hotel nice and early, but you were still napping Lila, so we waited until you woke.

  • We finally left for the hotel, but traffic came to a total standstill at the Braid off ramp. We waited for a long time and then ended up being diverted back to Coquitlam, so we scrapped that plan, and went to school to get George (there was an overturned semi that caused the whole area to be shut down).

  • Then I decided to go back home and wait for dad to come and pick me up. I folded a little more laundry and made some coffee and had a little visit with auntie Georgia.

  • We finally got to the hotel around 5:00. Ahhhhhhhh. Big exhale. We’ve been married for 22 years today. That’s incredible. As of today, we’ve been married longer than we haven’t. We’ve been married for more than half our lives now.
