he's MY daddy

he's MY daddy
  • Lila, as we walked down the stairs to your school, you looked up to me with bright twinkly eyes and proudly told me, "Mama, I didn't even fuss a tiny bit this mowning!"   We're on day three and you kisses me at the door to your class and marched right in.  Wow.  You must have been perfectly ready to take that step on your own.  You're so proud of yourself.  And I'm so happy for you.
  • George, we went to watch daddy's music class perform "Thunder" by Imagine Dragons.  We've only missed two of these shows over all these years.  At every single performance, I've taken an identical photo of either you or Lila hugging daddy's leg, claiming your territory.  It's adorable.  It occurred to me today, that this could be the last time I bring you to watch one of daddy's flash mobs.  How did you guys grow up so quickly?
  • George, you looked like such a little boy today.  You were wearing an Avengers shirt, shorts and flip flops, and little tiny Thomas the Train sunglasses.  I watched you for a while, and it made me smile.  I have a little boy.  I never thought of myself as the mom of a little boy, yet here you are.  And you're glorious.
  • My friend Courtney came over for dinner and brought her little Kailey with her.  Lila, you were pretty shy at first, but by the time they left, you had loosened up enough to step away from me for a few minutes at a time.  George, you were all in.  You love having people in our house.  The three of you ate ice-cream on the deck and had a great time.
  • Lila, after Courtney left, we headed out to get Katie from soccer.  We got a little distracted at the community gardens.  It seems as though we both love flowers.  You always ask about the names of every flower we see.  I was surprised and delighted that you identified and remembered Alyssum.  You remembered that you had planted it in your pot.
  • Katie, you had soccer academy tonight.  Rose went to the mall to do a little shopping while you were busy.
  • Jane, you were home today, which is unusual, but oddly enough, I was out and about and hardly saw you.  I miss you!   I'll enjoy seeing you more regularly when the play is over.   Tomorrow you're expecting to be at school until 11:00, and then on Saturday all day.  The play opens next week, so you're in a crunch now to get everything set up and done.
  • George, you're really good at picking up little phrases from the shows you watch.  Today I asked you to do something, and you responded, "As you command!"
